The Roberts lab is part of the UNT Dept. of Biological Sciences and the UNT Institute of Applied Sciences.  We conduct research in molecular ecology and toxicology both in the laboratory and in the field. Our "dual membership" gives us access to a number of great facilities including wetlabs, molecular biology labs, mesocosm facilities, etc. For a more complete description of our facilities, please see the Aquatic Tox Lab Homepage.

Research

Our research program is focused largely on the effects of environmental stressors on aquatic organisms, specifically on how changes at the molecular and biochemical level can  result in impacts on populations, communities, and ecosystems.

Current projects include studies on the fate and effects of engineered nanoparticles, the ecophysiology of carotenoids in alpine lakes, and mechanisms of mercury toxicity in fish. Our research is currently funded by the US EPA STAR Program and the US Air Force Office of Scientific Research.

If you are interested in  opportunities in the lab, please contact Dr. Roberts directly for the most up-to-date information.
